Voice Commands

Control punctuation, formatting, and text manipulation with your voice.

How it works Say these commands naturally while recording. MurmurTone will recognize them and insert the appropriate text or action.

Punctuation Commands

Insert punctuation marks by saying the command name:

Navigation Commands

Control text flow and cursor position:

Editing Commands

Correct mistakes and modify your transcription:

Timing matters "Scratch that" works best immediately after a transcription. If you've typed manually since the last transcription, it will still attempt to delete the previous voice input.

Case Manipulation

Change the capitalization of the previous word:

Formatting Commands

Apply text formatting (works in applications that support rich text):

Application support Formatting commands work in Word, Google Docs, email clients, and most text editors. They won't work in plain text applications like Notepad.

Custom Commands

You can create your own voice commands using the Custom Dictionary feature in Settings:

  1. Open Settings (right-click tray icon → Settings)
  2. Go to the "Custom Dictionary" tab
  3. Add a trigger phrase and its replacement text
  4. Save and test your command
